In 2027, several events are happening in the Medicare Advantage sphere that are going to affect millions of people over 65.
- Over 1 million people are going to have their Advantage Plan terminated, which provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to enroll in a Supplement without the possibility of being denied using what are known as “Guaranteed Issue” rights. However, agents generally are not paid commission when Guaranteed Issue rights are used to enroll in a Supplement.
- Some of the most competitive and best Advantage Plans in the country will not be paying agent commissions.
- Hospital co-pays on many more of the most popular Advantage Plans will have co-pays of $2,000 or more, while others will have an increase in out of pocket prescription costs as much as $1,500.

Agents not being paid commissions in the first two scenarios mean those who are forced to shop for plans because theirs was terminated or is no longer competitive may not be made aware of some of their best options because, unfortunately, the vast majority of agents aren’t willing to forgo a commission even when it’s the right thing to do for the client.
