Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.

Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference.

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with an 81-year-old gentleman who was visiting The Health Insurance Store for the very first time. He had been referred to us for assistance with applying for PACE, Pennsylvania’s Pharmaceutical Assistance program, and as we worked through the application, I had the chance to learn a little more about his situation.

As we talked, my coworker Kasey noticed that he could use a little extra support getting around. She went next door to a local ministry with a Care & Share Boutique, where she found an adjustable walking cane that was just what he needed. Kasey made a donation to the ministry and then presented the cane to him.

His surprise and gratitude were unmistakable.

What made this moment so special was that Kasey didn’t have to do it. She simply saw a need and found a way to help.

I’m grateful that I could be a small part of that moment, and even more grateful to work alongside people like Kasey who remind us that caring for others often goes far beyond what’s on the to-do list.

That’s definitely something to feel good about this Friday.
