Recently, I had an appointment with a Medicare client who was turning 85 in just one week. She came in concerned that she was about to lose her life insurance coverage.
I knew that, at her age, finding new coverage could be challenging—and potentially very costly. But she arrived incredibly organized, carrying three packets, each containing a life insurance policy she had purchased over the past 8–10 years.
She explained that she had reached out to the agent currently servicing her policies but hadn’t received much help or guidance. Although I’m not contracted with the insurance company that issued the policies, I was happy to review them with her.
To my surprise, I discovered that none of her policies were scheduled to terminate at age 85.
I asked how she had come to that conclusion, and she explained that she had heard something on TV that made her believe her coverage was ending.
After reviewing everything, I confirmed that she was financially comfortable with the three premiums and that the combined coverage was appropriate for what she hoped to accomplish.
The relief on her face when I told her, “You’re fine,” was priceless.
And honestly? That made me feel GREAT, too.
This is exactly why I love what I do. Sometimes, helping someone doesn’t mean selling them something new. Sometimes, it means taking the time to listen, review the details, clear up a misunderstanding, and give someone peace of mind.
That’s my Feel Good Friday!
